351 different varieties of sandwiches in 45 Minutes

Oriental Group of Hotel Management Institutions conducted Exotica-2012, Annual Food Festival on 3^rd March 2012 in the Lakkidi campus. The Food Festival is conducted every year by the final year students of the college under the guidance of  the faculty members and with the support of all the students in the college. Every year the students try to make an innovative preparation or presentation of food or beverage , with limited number of students and time limit.

A striking feature of the Food Festival was a World Record attempt of “351 different varieties of sandwiches in 45 minutes" by five students.The five final year students participated in this record are Mr.Clinto Babu,Mr.Jith Jimmy,Mr.Philip Mathew,Mr.Anson and Mr.Bibin Ben ,under the guidance of Chef Prabeesh , Food Production Dept.

Different types of breads like White loaf, brown loaf, Foccasia,Panini, Soft Rolls,Burgur buns,French buggest,Puper Nickel,ham burger, hot dog, Danish bread were used for the sandwiches. Variety of ingredients like Turkey, Toffo, Shrimps, Tuna, beef, bacon, ham, ham, pork,egg, prawns etc. are used as a filling for non-vegetarian sandwiches and mushroom, spinach,olives, tomato, bell peppers , cabbage ,lettuce etc. will be used for vegetarian sandwiches. One variety of bread was taken at a time, then dressing’s done with Mayonnaise, Mustard, Butter, Jam etc., after which veg filling, non-veg filling or mix filling’s done separately and garnished and kept for the display within 45 minutes.

The previous successful World Record attempts conducted in the institutions were : World’ Longest Steam Cake (Puttu) (2006), 1001 Uthappam’s in 46 minutes (2008), 101 Mocktails in 13 minutes (2009), 1001 flavoured teas & 10 Indian ethnic snacks in their biggest size (2010), Longest Bar-be-que (2011).
